Dear Readers, a very short post today to show you what I worked on earlier this year.
The secret project is thus revealed; I made this ensemble for Threads magazine’s Pattern Review section in their Fall 2026 issue. It can now be shown on my blog because the magazine is distributed.
While I won’t add the pattern review here, it being Threads’ property, I’ll just brag.

I loved the pattern, really loved it. It is Butterick7061 — available in paper or PDF formats. Which means, that I will plan to make the jacket/skirt combo for the Texas Fall and Winter — “plan” is such a malleable word, though.

Something about the combination of a boxy jacket and the gathered skirt (the magazine requested the jacket/pants combo) spells modern and easy. The elements of the jacket, pants and skirt, though classic in essence, do not read old and stodgy at all — I am in my golden years, therefore I must refrain from stodginess.
The other reason I loved this pattern is that I saw my daughter wear the same proportions and she looked great! While the details in her outfit may have been different, the general vibe was the same —- midi skirt and short boxy top. She’d be horrified to think I want to “twin” with her.
Look at the pictures, and wait many months for me to make this outfit — I told you I was slowing down. Meanwhile, I am just beginning to make my “catalog inspired” summer capsule in August. It’s 100 degrees out here and a Perfect Sewing Day? Or a laze around day? Sigh….
Stay hydrated, my friends.

Great look! Beautiful Job. I am ordering the pattern. I know who to ask for help.
