I Made a Happy, SingSong Blouse. It’s Not Mine.

A very short post today. I reviewed the pattern for the melodiously named “Lyrical Blouse” and sewed a sample of this blouse for Threads magazine’s winter issue (available on newsstands now — do old fashioned newsstands still exist?), for inclusion in their Pattern Review section.

Page from Threads magazine.

Disclaimer — they sent me the pattern, the fabric and notions, and paid me for my labor. Thumbs up for Threads; if you have not subscribed, do it now.

Check out the shirt pattern on the link below.
The Lyrical Shirt Pattern from Pattern Emporium.

The shirt is designed by a company called Pattern Emporium, and they’ve aptly named it the Lyrical shirt — it’s gives off such happy vibes, in my opinion. I have not had a chance to make it for myself yet, but certainly plan to do so because it seems to sing. It’s femininity lies in gathers at the sleeve-head, the wrist and back yoke — but no way is it sickly sweet. I believe that the more tailored neckline (choice between shirt collar and long neck ties) keeps it from being fussy.

I will not review the pattern any further in this post to keep from infringing on Threads’ copyright. I’m a stickler for that. However, I might have additional comments when I make the shirt for myself — when the pattern bins are released from their “prison”. See December 7 post.

One thing I will mention right now is that fabric choice is key for giving very different, (all lovely) vibes depending on the fabric properties. But you frequent sewers knew that, right?

Here’s the shirt on my dress form, before being shipped to Threads magazine.

Neck ties hanging casually down the front. Yes, definitely a wanna-make.

Can you picture yourself swanning about in the Lyrical shirt, looking like you just threw it on without making too much of an effort? I can…

Dear Readers, signing off this week with a heartfelt wish for a very Happy New Year. Until the next post…..
